I was in San Antonio over the weekend and was amazed at how many scooters have popped up there. A few being used by fashionistas, but most plopped on sidewalks everywhere. The parked ones seemed to be a slight nuisance, but to me (an old-codger-in-training) they were annoying. Ultimately, though, I think that this is just another fad that will run its course.

I went to Auditorium Shores yesterday and saw a few construction workers on Riverside near Barton Springs using them. I think if they move beyond the "fad" stage they can be useful for people who cannot find parking immediately nearby their job to scooter over. The only issues I could see is if someone picks up said scooter and worker is stuck without one nearby. I agree, they are annoying, but depending on the area they could be helpful to address our transportation issues.

I still think calling the manufacturer is the best answer for the OP here.
