Last night phones went crazy, tv broadcast too...with air raid sound and an alert for a possible abducted child.

Never heard it before. Anyone else get that alert last night? The sound was chilling.

It's a new system that allows alerts over all types of media.

You can turn those off on your phone. A quick google search should show you how to do it.

Got it on my TV for the first time. I don't mind on my phone but not so much on my TV.

Are we being prepared for WWIII? Personally, the choice for an AIR RAID sound was off the charts. Who decided that gem?

Yeah...we have my 86 year old MIL staying with us and she was freaking out a bit.

I think the air raid sound is a little overkill myself, especially when it blasts off in the middle of the night.

Amber alert!

Recently I was teaching a class and a fire alarm went off but the volume in our class was very low, initially, all of us thought that an Amber Alert was going off on phones in another classroom!

I was thinking about what it might do to people who actually lived through that horror. I feel really bad for the people that have to re-live the sound of the air raid. I cannot even imagine what it must have been like.

Why do they even have that sound now? It doesn't make sense.
Is it nationwide or just Texas?

What if all our devices are turned off? I assume the alarm won’t work, or can the “authorities” override them?
