Yeah, that is comparing metros, not cities, and that is still about a 20 percent difference...

Also interesting. When I was last there 2 years ago Las Vegas felt larger than Austin currently does to me.

Feels that way to me, too. But it could be because of the much larger airport, and anywhere from 150K-300K visitors there at any given time... most of them concentrated around the strip. So it feels quite busy and crowded, even though the resident population isn't much different.

austin is not close in size to San Antone. San Antone is growing rapidly as well so it will continue to have the higher population.

I've been around Las Vegas and it doesn't feel bigger than Austin at all. Granted I've been to the remote parts of the city doing work. Except for the Strip there ain't much. Even on the Strip there aren't all the tall skyscrapers Austin is building.

Austin- 950,715
Las Vegas- 641,676
