I was wondering if the hospitals in the Austin region are any good? Or would it be better to drive to San Antonio too see if they have any decent hospitals since that is the closest city distance wise from Austin compared to Dallas & Houston which are 3 or 4 hours away.

houston is 2 hours away..

Austin medicine is adequate, should be getting better over time since we have the medical school.

If i needed heart surgery, spinal surgery, or cancer treatment I would definitely make the short drive to houston.

Maybe from the very edge of Austin to the very edge of Houston could be done reasonably in two hours...or were you talking helicopter ?

Google rates it door to door from the west side of austin to baylor as 2:30 minutes at night. I typically do it in 2:15-2:30 minutes in non peak times.

To the edge of houston is consistently around 2-2:15. But maybe I drive faster. I typically average around 65

Why do you ask? And what the heck is "Austin region"?

What in the world are you talking about? your post make me wonder if you are a bot or a rando posting from overseas or something as all your posts seem disconnected from the reality of life in the US or in Central Texas.

Houston has the largest and one of the very best medical complexes in the entire world, so of course many people with a dire or rare diagnosis or searching for clinical trials will make the trip but for everything else, Austin generally has excellent care. Wide range of adult and pediatric specialists, high-level trauma care, etc etc.

Thirty years ago, Austin was a much smaller place with more limited medical services so decamping to Houston was more common but much has changed in the last 15 years.

I also get to Houston in roughly 2-2.5 hours.
