I’m helping a friend search for a place to live. She is a single, young professional with no children who will be working in Cedar Park, but who doesn’t necessarily want to live in a community of families. Can you recommend an area that might be midway between downtown Austin & Cedar Park, somewhere that would not result in an awful commute? She is considering renting an apartment or townhome for no more than 1300 a month.

That’s a nice area. I wonder what the commute would be.

Eh, it will be a 'reverse' commute, not likely to be any real issues .

A friend of mine (Canadian, late 30s) moved into the Domain on my advice and commutes north to his eBay office at Parmer & Anderson Mill Road. He likes commuting against the rush hour traffic. Says it is pretty easy compared with the normal flow, which really can suck.
Lots of dining & bar options in the Domain, but you might want to domicile a bit away from the noisier (weekend live bands) venues in the Rock Rose section. I think my friend pays about $1,300 for his nice 1 bedroom apartment..... close to the Starbucks.

Google works. Most areas along the 183 corridor from Austin to Cedar park will not be the best.
The Domain is okay, but the surrounding area is not the best either.
