I know he does infomercials for that company's properties that are located all over. I've never heard anyone mention him living here. Although we do have any number of other entertainment celebrities in the area.

John Travolta bought a place there a few years ago.

Robert Rodriguez the movie director lives down the road in the Spicewood area.

Chuck Woolery (game show host) lives in either HSB or Marble Falls.

There are a couple of others too.

Funny but we were flipping thru channels recently and saw a Funniest Home Videos show but local to Austin and co-hosted by Erik E. He's short! I saw him at the Federal bldg. in LA while getting a passport renewed. He had a baby and a mini-mob of fans.

Doesn't Matthew McConaughey live in Austin?

No one seems to mention him in relation to Austin, but he went to UT and I think he owns a ranch in the area?

heh...I was just down the street at a girlfriends house the night of the infamous bongo drum incident. Didn't know anything about it at the time . GF would have gone down there to check it out, I am sure. That was in Terry Town.

Roger Stauback (sp?) lives out there, or used to.

Sandra Bullock and Jesse James live here. Robert Duvall has a house on Lake Austin (and pleasantly unpretentious at that). Read in People magazine that Dennis Quaid will be moving here as well. The only thing that freaks me out about all these celebrities moving here (as far as actor types) is that now they will bring a certain pretentiousness/Hollywood Vibe here and hence, more Austin flavor gone. One positive though, if I have to say one, is that at least these aren't the types with a snobbish reputation following them around.

Austin has been celebrity crazy for a long time. It's not as bad now as it was in the 90s though. It was so obnoxious that if a celeb was in town for a day, the local news referred to them from then on as an Austinite.

One famous musician (can't remember who) that had just won a grammy was mentioned in the AAS as being a hometown boy. He wrote a letter to the editor telling them that "sleeping on an Austinite's couch for 3 weeks in 1974 does not make one an Austinite." It was pretty funny.

I think some of the 'famous' people live here because it is generally not a big deal to most people and they don't get bothered as much as they would in some places...

Vickie Howell, host of DIY and HGTV's Knitty Gritty, co-founder of Austin Craft Mafia and designer of yarn lives in Austin.

Y'all knew that, right?

Seriously...she's the reason I thought Austin when hubby wanted to move to TX.
