We're going to be in Austin and the area for a few days, and I'd like to find out where 30.06 signs are posted, or if there are any other restrictions. We're planning on visiting the Alamo, Riverwalk, Magnolia Farm in Waco (my wife and MIL, what can I do?)

Please... no political commentary or "why do you want a gun?" or discussions about how good or bad Texas gun laws are. I don't want this to devolve into bickering and get locked before I get my answers

Go to Texas3006.com. You can look up businesses by name, or see a map of nearby businesses. You can also download an app for your mobile device. Extraordinarily useful.

Note that it’s user-supported, so technically not 100% accurate, but it is very rare that I go to a business that isn’t listed and find out they have a 30.06 sign. (It is more common to go to a business listed as 30.07 and find out they have no sign at all.)

Thank you! Installing that app now.

By law, as state property not designated as a courthouse, the Alamo should be OK to carry. But we've had lots of instances where these types of places post anyway and nothing is done about it. I really don't know.

In theory, the Riverwalk per se should be OK to carry but there's pretty much nothing along there but bars which will be restricted by 51% signs. I'm not really sure what the point would be of carrying there, maybe you can go into a gift shop or something. However, if I'm not mistaken the entire Riverwalk area is a bit unique in that you don't necessarily have to stay in the bar/restaurant to drink, you can take it out into the Riverwalk area with you. So the whole place may well be a 51% area for all I know.

As mentioned, Texas3006.com is a pretty good resource. There are a lot of 30.06 signs in Austin and I doubt most property owners understand what they're doing when they post them.

Also, since you're asking specifically about the Alamo and the Riverwalk you should probably post the question on the San Antonio forum.

30.06 or 30.07?

Do you currently hold a valid AZ CCW permit? If not, you'll have to open carry and subject to 30.07 (which is essentially the same as 30.06, but important to note the difference between Open and Concealed).

In either regard, you're going to need to really pay attention if you're flitting from place to place. I'd advise keeping the weapon in the car.

I do know for a fact that the Pat O’Brien’s franchise across the street from the Menger Hotel & the Alamo is designated with a 51% sign. No guns.
Otherwise, I have legally concealed carried (with my LTC license) in several of the Riverwalk Restaurants and the Alamo itself in past years.

Welcome to Texas!

Whoa, this is dangerously incorrect. We don't have constitutional carry in Texas. You must have a license whether you carry concealed or open, either from Texas or from a state with reciprocity. We probably have reciprocity with Arizona but we don't recognize another state's constitutional carry.

Openly carrying on the Riverwalk even with a license will probably result in harassment by law enforcement. Openly carrying without a license will land you in jail. Don't do this.
