I kinda figured a judge would do that, although you never can be sure. The gov offices could never explain how that increased security. It appeared to clearly be an attempt to prevent the actual drop off of ballots.

it wasnt "low" of abbott to do that. It is actually written in texas election law.

This is what the law says

Quote:
(3) subject to Subsection (a-1), in-person delivery by the voter who voted the ballot.
(a-1) The voter may deliver a marked ballot in person to the early voting clerk's office only while the polls are open on election day. A voter who delivers a marked ballot in person must present an acceptable form of identification described by Section 63.0101.
So this is exactly legislating from the bench. The judge literally is making up law rather than enforcing/interpreting law.

Do you really want county clerks to be able to violate whatever election laws they want? Even if it is for a good reason?

Kinda confused, that law excerpt says voters may only cast their ballot while the polls are open on Election Day but how does that coincide with having multiple drop sites per county which is what Abbott blocked? .. unless they were using those drop sites before the polls were open?

Eh, it is trying to use an excerpt and extrapolate it. The judicial tends to be better at looking at the entire body of laws and how they interact.

Drop off sites are manned by election officials/poll workers. You can still mail in your ballot from anywhere, however, to get a signature and have someone physically see you and your ballot you will need to go to the Travis county tax office on airport.

On my way back from ATL this morning I had my first tire blow out at 80 MPH on I-20 just west of the Mississippi state line. Was driving my mothers G37. It sure took me off guard, one moment everything was smooth and the next it was like a grenade went off and the car was unraveling to pieces. I managed to keep it under control atleast, put in neutral and slowly applied the brake and slowly pulled over to the shoulder. It was a pretty rough ride, surprisingly the rim survived.

Yea, shouldn’t be doing 80 in Louisiana but these trips are long enough as is. Getting it swapped in Shreveport as we speak.

Those events can be scary! What tire blew out? I have heard that it is worst to lose a tire on the powered axle (front on front wheel drive, rear on rear wheel drive)

Only have been in the car for two blowouts in my life - one, I had the window open (87 Toyota Tercel) and I heard noise from the tire and had time to slow down to around 30 before it actually blew out (left front). Pretty much a non-event - warning goes a long way in dealing with a blowout...

The second time I was not driving, but riding in the back seat of a Nissan 'Tsuru' (I think that was what it was called, similar to a Sentra). The driver was going ~160 kph when there was a shudder (allowing the driver to slow down a tiny bit) and then 'BAM!', front tire is gone and driver is trying to keep the car on the road, which is a raise road with low jungle on both sides (between Cancun and Chitzen Itza). He got the car down to about half that speed before 'BAM!' a rear tire goes. We shot off into the jungle. The car was totaled, but everyone was wearing seat belts an no injuries to speak of. There are some funny stories related to that wreck and the hours we spent on the side of the road waiting for rescue.

I have since learned the the roads in Mexico are much more textured than US roads and create quite a bit more heat, meaning you have to take the speed rating of tires more seriously.

Passenger side steer tire. When it happened I couldn’t tell which one it was while I was still rolling. It basically felt like off-roading at 80 MPH and you felt it all over the car. Did the mam a favor and replaced both her front tires... she owes me ... Steer tire blowouts are super dangerous for obvious reasons and I’ve ‘hoped’ I would never have to experience one on the freeway. Could easily take you off into the ditch. I had a friendly experience with the Louisiana State Police, I had to call because she didn’t have a tire iron to remove the lug nuts or a jack to lift the car so fortunately they do road side assistance.

Hamilton would high five you for your driving skill.

Back in my college days if I drove my 1960 MGA roadster over 75, it was normal for the car to sound like it was unraveling. Lol
