Well, our plans have changed! Good news: I don't have to drive 1100 miles in three days.
Bad news(not SO bad): We will be here on Christmas and don't have a plan for lunch/brunch as a result.
Don't really want to drive in to Threadgill's; but that might be the type of meal that we're looking for.

Really wouldn't mind staying in north-north Austin up through Cedar Park if anyone knows of a place I haven't considered yet(Jack Allen's might be fun but more hoopla than we care for).

Any thoughts, y'all??? ( I thought we'd be eating some Mississippi vittles at a family home there )

The Marriott in La Frontera has a breakfast buffet/weekend brunch. You might try calling them to see if they are adding anything special for tomorrow morning.

Thanks neighbor! Maybe Alamo Draft House for multi-tasking!

Well, stayed close(very) to home and just had a nice lunch at Hunan Ranch in Avery Ranch. Place was fairly busy but not overcrowded. Not a celebration by any stretch; but a tasty lunch indeed.

Now we know for next year

For what its worth only some of their locations were open so if you go next Holiday make sure to call ahead. I made the mistake of assuming they were all open and went to the one in Uptown with elders who just moved to Houston and was welcomed... ...by a gigantic vacant parking lot... Ended up going to one somewhere near 290 and I-610

On a side note Christmas Day was undeniably the easiest time I've ever had navigating through Houston's traffic. I have to go back tomorrow.

Someplace that I do really miss in Atlanta is the Petro / Iron Skillet truck stop off of Hollowell Pkwy and I-285 (formerly Bankhead Hwy) ... isn't the best side of town but they really hit the mark for holidays.

We had dinner at the Driskill bar Christmas night. They had a very talented piano player, it was busy but we got lucky with a table. The real restaraunt was booked but the bar turned out to be a better choice and the food was excellent. Not north of course, but maybe this helps someone in the future.
