Is this Saturday, April 24th at Pease Park. By name only, this sounds like something that my children would enjoy. However, after reading the reviews on yelp, I am not so sure that it is. Can anyone tell me anything about event? My kids' ages are 4 and 18 months.

Thanks!

Well, depends on how "progressive" you are feeling. It's very much a hippy-style event in the older sense of the word... there is alcohol, pot, and nudity. On the other hand, they do have games for the kids, maypole, etc. I *think* the music there is family friendly. No one is mean or anything, but your kids would be exposed to some wacky, inebriated adults.

I usually see plenty of kids there, but like the above poster, it does depend on how "progressive" you are feeling. You are very likely to run into loud drum circles, painted breasts, men in thongs and wafts of "wacky" smoke.

I "heard" that it's good for kids during the day, and as the day moves on - gets less kid-friendly... but I have never been.

I've been several times. There are always lots of kids there during the day. they have games and costume contests, etc...

But it is true that as the the day progresses into evening you might want to get the younguns out of there.

Eeyore's is Austin weirdness at it's best - or used to be, before so many people came who didn't wear costumes.

These days there's a PG-rated Eeyore's during the day, and, as I understand it, from 4:00 on, the original Eeyore's for adults and open-minded parents.

llkltk, how many Eeyore's Birthday Parties have you attended?

So you wear costumes to this event? What kind of costumes...costumes that have to do with Winnie the Pooh and the gang? Winnie is my favorite

Well, you could do a Winnie the Pooh costume, but, really, remember, it's Austin, so anything (and I do mean just about anything) goes.

Just google Eeyore's Birthday Party using Google Images and you'll get quite a selection to give you an idea.

It's sad when so many people don't wear costumes - sort of like not wearing a costume to the Ren Fests and going as a spectator, not a participant, which avoids the entire point.
