I expect Texas to follow suit here shortly. Especially since many do not want to seem to follow the social distancing requirement and other reasonable requirements. It would be a good thing and for our own good seems how a degree of people are not taking things seriously now and going completely against what the CDC and the state is saying.
If it happens, its really going to suck but it is what it is.

As for Texas: Abbott doesn't plan on issuing a statewide order, however; Dallas County has also issued a Stay-At-Home order. Wondering if we may end up getting impacted by one in Austin...
The Statesman is reporting that it is about to happen in Austin. Oh, and the governor only issues statewide orders on important things like plastic bags.

What was the real reasoning of killing that ordeal anyway? I didn't really see anything terrible about it.

If you need an Rx pickup from HEB - one that doesn't have a drive thru - they will deliver it to your house. I went today and there was a line out front that I didn't want to stand in just to go to the pharmacy so I called them. I thought maybe they'd do a curbside delivery but they said they would deliver to the house later today.

I think the state is relatively consistent (but not always) in siding with more freedom. So when cities try to reduce rights, the state sometimes will step in.

In this case the state is not reducing rights, but is saying they will not stop cities from reducing rights.

I agree with his point that rural areas dont need the same bans as cities.

the great thing is that regardless of what he says you can stay home and not be impacted at all.

I am staying home, but the fact that not everyone is absolutely impacts me. The longer we allow people to do business as usual, spreading this like wildfire, the longer schools will be closed, businesses will be closed, and I have to be stuck at home. Luckily for me, my employer is awesome and we have been working from home for a week and a half. Not everyone is so lucky. There are plenty of people who could totally work from home whose companies are not allowing them to. Their choice is to go to work or lose their job. My neighbor works in HR for one of the LARGEST employers in Austin (not going to name names). They are all still being told to go to work every day. And there are thousands of people employed there. They won't change that unless the gov't forces them to. The longer that goes on, the longer this disease spreads, which means the longer ALL of us suffer.
