If you are over 65 or have a legitimate disability, you are eligible to Vote by Mail. I encourage you to take advantage of this.

I have been doing it for several years and it is a huge convenience over standing in long lines waiting to vote. And it affords you the luxury of looking up information on-line, while you are at home, if there are voting issues that you have questions about or want to research. I spent a couple of days going over the last ballot, checking background of some candidates and pro-con arguments for other issues.

Application to vote by mail

However, please be aware that the Texas Atty. General will probably be scrutinizing this for unqualified applicants.

2 weeks of early voting in grocery stores gives people plenty of time in which to vote. In fact there's really no good excuse for a conscientious citizen not to vote with that much of a time frame.

If somebody is unable to get to the polls for whatever reason during the early voting time frame or on the designated voting day, I don't know why anybody would have an issue with mail-in voting.

How does it work now if a person is unable to get to a voting poll, does that person mail in his or her vote? I never heard of any issues of mail-in voting being corrupt until the past few weeks.

The research I have done has not found any evidence of fraud in voting-by-mail.

I just found this clarification on who can vote by mail:

Voting by mail is fairly limited in the state. Texans seeking an absentee ballot that they can fill out at home and mail to their county elections office must offer an excuse to qualify. To be eligible under typical circumstances, a voter has to be 65 years or older, have a disability or illness, be out of the county during the election period, or be confined in jail.

The Texas election code says voters have a disability if they have a “sickness or physical condition” that prevents them from voting in person without the likelihood of “injuring the voter’s health.

the issue with vote by mail is that someone else can fill in your ballot for you. If it happens in bulk, then it becomes a big deal.
