We're looking to relocate to the Circle C area. We have an 8th grader that will move to Gorzycki and considering Bowie High. Are there any parents that can share their recent experiences and offer any recommendations? Any parents with a child(ren) currently enrolled at Bowie?

Thank you!

I am not a parent, but worked at both schools in a non-teaching role last year. It’s a typical high achieving suburban high school. Gorzycki is the highest achieving middle in AISD and most kids are in pre-AP/GT classes. Given that, their sped department is great. Bowie has its fair share of mental health, recreational drug use and high academic pressures. Class sizes are large. This is the one area of AISD that there is sustained growth, whereas, in other areas of the district they are losing students. Bowie is building a parking garage to assist with the parking and traffic issues. There are just under 3k students. I believe the graduating class last year was somewhere around 758 (I went to a similar school in San Antonio and we were 641). If you are active and involved with your student it should be fine. I know there are a handful of parents that post here, so they may chime in. Try a search of the forum. I think I've put in a few solid comments about the school and the area in the last year.

Gorzycki’s performance indicators are high. I don’t have a child there to know about the environment.
