Is the COA tax collector office really working?

As far as I know, noboby has been furloughed. Everybody is getting paid. Call in and get long recorded message.

If you wait a very long time, you might eventually get a person. I did, and got instructions on downloading a form and mailing it in with a check. I did that three weeks ago, and nothing! Check never processed.

All employees are still getting paid. But not much work seems to be happening.

How can it take hours on hold before anybody answers? What are all those people being paid doing?

Yeah. I think normally they are OK. They get paid really well, and usually perform well.
I'm only talking about this situation.

It's possible that some of the administrative procedures related to OP's issue have changed due to COVID-19 in a way that would cause processing delays, given that the majority of the staff probably have to work from home.

All the staff work from home. Can't they answer the phone from home?

I can’t find the article online, but I saw a story on KXAN this evening where the mayor said no one has stopped working and there are no furloughs. It was a similar statement from Travis county. It sounds like OP is just frustrated by the situation.

So that's a big difference. TRavis county and city of Austin are completely different entities.

Agreed. My error. But I think they have about the same policies. But COA pays much higher.
