Well, good news is they have the buildings and space since so many campuses are under enrolled. (Read my sarcasm).

Has online learning in DSISD, LTISD, LISD, AISD involved live interaction between teacher and students on a daily basis? Looking to move in the right school/district.

Our current middle school (out of state) only posts assignments and lesson recordings, and students are supposed to complete the assignments. There is no live interaction unless students go to office hours. I was okay with this for the last few months of school, but will not be happy if this is to continue in the upcoming year as well.

Thank you!

Can’t speak to the others, but my friends tell me AISD just posted assignments. Eanes has live interaction, some of it very good...some quite poor.

Everyone I know in AISD (which, of course, is somewhat limited) had 'live' classes via Zoom. Not every class, every day, but multiple ones per week.

This is true. Teachers maintained "office" hours and had weekly zoom meetings. They also had daily meetings with administration.

Funny thing is, that this made me think back to college and the fact that all the profs had office hours. Seems you could always get in to see them if you wanted to, as they generally had no one visit during these office hours. Similarly, it turned out that you could basically get 1-on-1 tutor sessions with the teachers relatively easily during their office hours. In some ways, my kids could have more personal instruction 'remotely' than they did while they were in class.

Yes. I have heard teachers have just sat on zoom with students to complete their work together.

Seems some AISD parents aren't happy about the online learning.

Of course some (many) weren't; however, considering these was just kind of dumped on the teachers with next to no preparation, it was a passable solution. I suspect that there will be more of a plan in the fall and more time for teachers to prepare. Yes, the software was confusing, but it turned out to be manageable with some effort. While I love being able to drop off my kids at school, work all day, then pick them up, that just isn't possible now. Parents are going to have to spend the time. Write the passwords down and get over it.

there is always someone that is going to complain about something. We are at magellan and the middle school program had about 3-4 hours of zoom classes per day. They had breaks in between to do work. They had more work than during the regular year.

The 1st grade had about 2 hours of zoom classes every day with work between classes.

We felt that the classes were excellent, but some parents complained there was too much work.
