Hi,
I am going to be living in Austin for 4 days only / week as my family is still living in Houston.
I am looking to rent 1 bedroom apartment under $900 rent. I am working on east side of Austin near 290 and 130. My priority is just safe area and commute around 30 mins or so. This is just short term 1 year situation.

(1) Can someone recommend some safe areas to live in ?
(2) Can someone suggest some apartments if they have good reference?
(3) How safe is Manor, TX area? I am considering the flats at shadowglen apartment which is a new community there.

Thanks.

You may just want to rent a room with that budget.

Even if I am looking for something really small? I am ok with something about 500-700 sqft. Nothing fancy.

Just try a search of something like hotpads.com or apartments.com. That’ll show you how expensive things are in Austin. I paid $797 in 2016. The same apartment is now $913 from what I saw when I was looking earlier in the spring.

You can always try an airbnb or even call an extended stay hotel and see if they can negotiate. Some consultants do that and hotels will usually accommodate.
