...DW spent OVER an hour getting through Waco this morning. 35 was down to ONE lane northbound. I checked the traffic map and the route through town was BLACK!!! I had never seen BLACK on the traffic map!!! It has been that way somewhere along that stretch(up to south of Dallas) since we first visited in '07. UNbelieveable!!! It took her over 4 hours to get to Dallas from Avery Ranch, leaving at 1000.
Dang.

Oh crap. That’s not very promising. I’m supposed to be in Dallas tomorrow. Hopefully it’s not bad during the day. 183 had between 45 and MoPac had a lot more traffic than normal tonight.

I may end up taking 183 to 281 and going the back road for the first time. I had a taste of I-35 during Thanksgiving. It didn’t back up but it did get crowded.

Would be nice if they finished that obstacle course they made in S.Dallas between Loop 12 and Trinity River. I sometimes bypass that via 408/Lp12 because how dangerous that section is.

DW says that is likely her plan for the Sunday return trip.

Guess that means we’ll be backing that road up too

We’ve done the 281 route several times. It is a good change from the I35 mob race.

Posted this in the Avery Ranch FB page and a neighbor got caught in the same mess....another saw it while traveling southbound and was amazed at the length of the gridlock line. Another used Waze to find a way around and still spent 30 minutes just getting past Waco. Dang.

Yea I just stayed home. I'll probably go at like 2 or 3 am when there's less people out.

Welp. I’m glad I go south instead of north.

With all the road work around San Marco's, I-35 down there isn't that great either. Taking the 130 to bypass it leaves you in that long construction zone around E.SATX on I-10.. ..but its better than Waco I guess.
