If near power lines, call the power line company.

I also may end up having to travel this weekend, but its not yet confirmed. Not sure how I'm going to handle that if its still icy out which I predict it will be.

Just sawxalong the scrolling news on KXAN that travel between Cameron and Cedar park on 183 is not advised right now. The whole thing is elevated, so, obviously...but. There you go.

Good luck to you! Hopefully, those mature trees can withstand the weight of the ice...we're losing trees left and right in Avery Ranch. MOST utilities are buried, thank goodness.

In ATL we had very tall pine trees. When it gets windy, they start swaying. To someone who has never seen a tree sway back and forth before, it looks pretty scary during a storm but for the most part its a non-issue.. ..until it gets too windy.. I was on the phone with AT&T setting up cellular service in my bedroom on a windy fall day, and it was pretty dang windy even by ATL standards.. ..there was a gap in the breezes for an extended period and suddenly out of nowhere there was a constant, long gust that kept getting stronger and stronger while I was on the phone. I was somewhat stunned, my window was rattling like it wanted to come out of its frame and smack me in the face and I heard something coming apart, I thought the house was literally getting ripped apart by the wind before I heard BANG and the whole house shook hard enough to throw me off my feet.. ..felt like a bomb going off.. ..sure enough there in the atic just above my bedroom was the upper half of a fallen tree. I was so casual and non-chalant about it on the phone, while I was talking to the rep I just said 'I think a tree just fell through my roof' ... They were like 'Oh wow! D..do you need a minute?' .. 'Nah, lets finish this order.'

My neighbors felt it too, they told me the ducked and covered when they heard the tree falling, they're no joke, we got lucky .. .. they can take the entire house with them when they fall.
