There is still ice but most of the roads are okay to drive on if you’re careful.

Edit: updating, if you can stay home, I would heavily advise. Parmer is closed between Apple and MoPac and I was redirected back to 183. There are also fallen trees on the side roads.
There are some reports related to the massive pile-up in FW that the toll road operator had not been treating the roads. They are claiming they were, but the first-responders are saying it certainly did not look like it. Other toll road operators are probably being very cautious about their liability.

not really true

1) cars driving on this little ice will melt it
2) the ground is warm enough that at 30 air temp the ice wont freeze well
3) bridges will stay icy, though with enough traffic the ice will melt in the day

After I got passed MoPac it got considerably better but getting to MoPac was a bear.

I sure hope riaelise is okay, after seeing trees down all over the side streets I’ve been growing concerned about her and her family.

Our power was out for ~2 hours, and our house was starting to get chilly. Hope hers is back on.

Yeah my heatpump is not liking this either. There were signs of brownouts yesterday but thankfully we retained power.

Our whole neighborhood was down, I think, several thousand homes. We have all buried utilities in the 'hood, so it was some major connection upstream.

We're nowhere near close to done with this. It'll probably stay this cold until at least the middle of next week.

I’m noticing. I may end up needing to travel this weekend but it’s not confirmed yet but it’s highly likely. If I do I’m probably going to hug the gulf until I get to Mobile. I’m hoping 290 or 71 are still okay.

It is supposed to get above freezing today, tomorrow, and Sunday, although not by much or for a long time. I am hoping that is enough to melt the ice off the trees. Snow is not nearly so rough on the trees, but don't want it and the ice together on the trees .
