Hi,
I’m a 51 single female and looking for my new neighborhood in Austin ASAP. My house in North Carolina sold fast with a super quick cash close. I thought I’d have a month to do more investigating of neighborhoods before I got here. Now that I’m here, I’m overwhelmed! Help!

I work remotely so traffic is not an issue. Looking for a house to rent for the first year. My ideal place would have a fenced yard for my dog and space for a small veggie garden, be close to the city but not downtown. What I read people refer to as “central Austin”. I really liked Roseville but not the house. I’m looking for a neighborhood with that “ community” feel/vibe character/quirky feel. Basically the opposite of an anonymous suburb. I’m single so I would like to be in a neighborhood where I could meet interesting people. I guess I’m afraid I’ll pick the wrong area and everyone’s will be in their 20’s and I’ll feel like the odd man out. It’s important to me especially since I work from home and don’t know anyone yet.

My budget is around $2,500 to $3,000 max.

Also, as soon as I find a place it’s already pending to rent on the apps. So frustrating. Can anyone recommend a realtor to help me find a house.

Any advise is much appreciated!

That’s a good budget for a home in Mueller and the surrounding areas. That’s 78723. I think you mean Rosedale, note Roseville. Mueller is a bit further east but anything around Rosedalr east to mueller sound like they would work.

Hyde park is a great place to live. Community oriented, interesting houses.

I would include nearby Hancock as well.

I love the Rosedale area too. I'm not sure what the rent would be like in any of these areas, but maybe also look at Bryker Woods, Allandale, Brentwood, North Loop, and Crestview. Down south, I would look in 78704 or the Westgate area.

Really anything in the Mopec, 183, 35, 290 loop will fir your bill. Since you sound like you like more quirky artistic kind of people. Don't be afraid to look on the east side. Well, it can be quite expensive because of the hipster thing. There it is sort of the central of funky artist grow food thing. I wish I knew how realistic your budget was. But I have no idea of rent prices in Austin, best of luck I hope you like it here. It's a wonderful place once you get settled.
