Ours went up $100K, which is less than I expected. And the appraised value is still way less than what we would get for it if we sold it right now. Guess I'm not protesting this year.

Ours went up $65k but is probably $150k less than it would make on the market 'today'. It is true that the basis for the appraisal is from some months gone by, and it is also possible the market cools down and this is somewhat accurate in the near future. Will see, I guess.

The realtor I spoke to awhile back told me generally speaking homes are selling from $100 - $150k over their previous years values.

Yeah, our appraisal last year was probably quite a bit low to begin with, so that is ball park right, I suppose.

Wilco included cites from the local business journals and realtors, effectively saying don't bother wasting our time by protesting.

Unfortunately, I cannot and need to adjust my escrow to accommodate the bump in taxes. It has exceeded the cushion.

Ours was probably about $100K under valued last year. It's about $300K under now. Yes, the value of my home has gone up that much in a year.

Well I guess I can't complain on the "modest" $19K bump in appraised value of my house then That is in the $148/sq ft range. Houses are selling in the $180/sq ft to $212/sq ft range in the neighborhood.
