Is anyone in the process of buying a home in the Austin area who is a disabaled vet? I need to know what type of property tax exemption, if any would my husband get. Also is Georgetown a better place to live than Liberty Hill??? We are retired but want five acres or more for the horses. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some information on property tax exemptions for disabled vets (http://www.wcad.org/appraisal/publicaccess/FAQ.aspx?PropertyID=&PropertyOwnerID=&NodeID=11#qu estion_1_8 - broken link).

As for Georgetown versus Liberty Hill, that's hard to say - it would be a very individual choice, I'd think. They're both nice places but have a very different feel - Liberty Hill feels a bit more rural, Georgetown a bit more small town, I think (but that's my very subjective perception, remember).

Both have areas that are good for horses (what kind of horses, by the way?). Both have equestrian gated communities, if you're interested in that kind of thing, and horse suitable properties that aren't in such communities, if you aren't.

You'll need to watch the soil when you're looking for a place - west of IH35 can be rocky (some places too rocky for horses), but there are some pockets of very nice soil, as well. What are your equestrian interests? That might impact where you'd want to be, as well.

Great website thank you very much...I was in touch with you some time back. I have two Clydesdales, 1 Perheron, 1 appy and 1 donkey named Nancy.....
There are three places we are interested in 1. off of Hwy 29 LIBERTY HILL, 2. Country rd 323a Liberty hill, 3. Country road 152 in Georgetown. Do you know of any problems with water etc. in either of these areas? We are planning a trip to visit my daughter in Cedar Park on the June 12 for several weeks and will be looking into these properties. Thank you for all your input because it is a scarey thing if we were to move again.....Lots of stuff to go through that I haven't seen in four years....Any info is greatly appreciated....
