Thank you gifts are in order for some friends of ours who were instrumental in our moving an older family member here to live with us. As such, we thought an Austin-y (and, if all else fails, Texas-y) gift would be most appropriate. Edible, non-edible, whatever ideas you guys have -- that can be mailed out of state -- are welcome!! Thanks!

Whenever I visit Texas, there are people who always request me to bring them home these 2 items:

BBQ sauce
Gingerbread Pancake mix from Kerbey Lane Cafe

The Texas store in the Barton Creek Mall is still there. I purchased many margarita themed items there just about a month ago.

At the Austin airport they have some great music compilations from Austin City Limits on CD - I bought them and some hot sauce and it made a great gift. I'm sure you can find the music compilations elsewhere in the city so that you don't have to drive to the airport!

Austin slow burn. It's a brand of jellys that are sweet and spicy and wonderful. they are even sold in gift kits. I think they have a store but are also sold at whole foods and maybe other places. Online too I think.

Are they sports fans? Obviously, the first thing that comes to my mind is some nice Longhorns gear. From a classy burnt orange golf shirt, to a cool player jersey... college football season is just a couple of months away!

Other ideas: Coopers in Llano and the Salt Lick have online stores, you can buy anything from sauces to the actual BBQ itself...

Austinuts, some products from local markets and grocery stores, or even a basket with specialties which has very nice options. Something with the star of Texas, like clothes or a piece of home decor.
