I have a little widget on my desktop that shows me the current temp in Austin and it says 91 degrees. Is it really that hot there right now?

Welcome to Texas in the summertime. I think there will be a tremendous cool down in June for you all though. Because usually when it's this hot in May, it cools off in June, but than July and August, watch out.

I wouldn't know b/c I didn't bother to go outside today. I'm in hibernation until October with A/C at 72.

Yeah, this is typical.

What's worse, is unlike 20...well, 25 years ago, it isn't a 'dry' heat, so you'd better quickly get accustomed to dripping in sweat if you go outside and are either in the sun or so much as move. A breeze helps.

Now, this is still much better than a desert SW 'dry heat', 'cause above 108F, or so, it's just flat-out hot to the point you can't cool down. Plus, you've not lived in a strange climate 'till you've gone outside @ 1:30 AM and it's still 107F. That's just odd to encounter.

No way around it, it's HOT. Last couple of days have been record highs, I think... however, things usually even out so that'll mean we'll get a break for a few days sometime later in the summer. But overall, very hot as usual.

I don't remember it being any more "dry heat" 20 years ago...

I find now that if I put in some hard work running or doing yardwork in the hottest part of the day (be careful! not recommending this) early on, I get pretty acclimated and the rest of the summer doesn't bother me. Or perhaps it's just acclimation over years of this weather.

BTW it rains like 70% of the time on Memorial Day here, so watch for some pop up showers tomorrow.

I sweat my butt off today. I had to put up two new fence poles and then replace 4 fence stakes. After about hour, I basically strip off my clothes and fell into the pool to cool down. What I would do w/o a pool. OH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
