I am not a big donut fan. They don't like me and it's just not worth the pain and agony (not to mention calories and sugar) for a few tasty bites. Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts and even the famed Round Rock donuts do nothing for me. But, I found a donut I absolutely love. It's possibly the best one I've ever had - it's called Donut 7 and it's on Burnet Rd. near Kramer. If you're in the area, stop and try one - I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've never understood the fascination with DD, really donuts in general. Fried bread with sugar.??

Donut 7 is alright, but we actually drive down to KC Donuts on Brodie Lane from Round Rock because they're the best in town. If you like doughnuts, those are worth the drive. It's owned by a really nice Asian family and they are always very friendly. We're not big fans of Krispy Kreme or Round Rock Donuts. They're alright, but if I'm going to eat something bad for me, I want it to taste really good.

I guess the 2 miles I have to run to work it off is just too high a price to pay!

I recently went to the new DD. The doughnuts weren't bad...just different. Interesting that someone said that the doughnuts were freshly made before compared to frozen now b/c I noticed a difference with my fave doughnut, Toasted Coconut. It was still good, but it looked TOO perfect. I thought they might be making them differently. I also got some filled doughnuts and they weren't as fluffy as before. I like Krispy Kreme to and fortunately both places are right out my back door if I want a doughnut. Will try DD again, but if it turns out to be a dud...I'll just go to KK.

NEVER get Dunkin Donuts in the evening, everything's already stale. Never cared much for their donuts since they stopped making them in house. HEB makes the best donuts around, so far IMO.

They're making a push to go Countrywide, and I haven't seen much here in Austin.

As friends and I like to describe them, they're the "Poor Mans Starbucks".

They do have some awesome hot and cold beverages though, and supposedly the best coffee....they have a cult following in the northeast.

A few things: Trust me, I used to go to Dunkin Donuts at least once a week, if not more. One of the girls that worked there for a very long time would give me all the updates on what was going on. The employees were absolutely restricted from divulging any information about the new DD and if they were caught doing so, they'd be fired on the spot, per the new management's rules. What I found out was that they were no longer going to make the dough and all the ingredients "fresh" in the back of the store any longer. They were going to transition to the "corporate way" of making doughnuts, via frozen dough and pre-packaged icing, fillers, etc. They no longer make the doughnuts throughout the day, only once in the early morning and then they're stored in the back of the store and brought out when needed. Once they run out, too bad, come back the next day. Before, they would go to the back, ask you to wait about 5-10 minutes and come out with a very fresh batch of whatever doughnuts you requested. It was awesome!! The number of varieties that I was once quoted was 28! That didn't mean they were all out at the same time, but on any given day there were at least 15-20. When I went in there the other night, I counted exactly 10 different doughnut options. Pathetic!!! A lot of the best doughnuts they use to make are gone forever! If you think that this DD is better than it use to be, then you really didn't get to experience the old DD for what it was. The doughnuts were big, fluffy, full of icing, fillers, etc. and tasted great. I can't say any of that about these now. I think DD is making a huge mistake by changing it to this new "corporate look." I guess it's just what happens in order for them to streamline their products, reduce costs, increase profits, and maintain (crappy) consistency.

So from now on, I'm going to HEB for doughnuts until someone comes along that can offer better, and closer to Cedar Park.

Wow...that's disappointing. I did notice a difference in taste but I wasn't sure what it was. The toasted coconut is really all i go there for. I'm not a coffee drinker. Will try it again to see if it looks the same as before.

That is really sad....I would gladly pay a little more for a fresh, homemade donut. I hate that they've settled for mediocrity when they used to be so good....
