Hello!
We made it to Austin, and wow... it's so hot here lol! It's good to finally be in our new hometown though.

My husband and I have Aetna health care and we're trying to get some recommendations about doctors and dentists in the area, and a chiropractor would be great too! We live right near ben white and Lamar but we're wiling to drive for great doctors. We don't know anyone here yet so your recommendations will be so helpful!

Oh we're in our mid 20's and we're thinking about starting a family within the next year or so and we plan to stay in Tx at least 5 years, so ya... a good doctor who would be great with my first pregnancy (hopefully) would be great, but any info would be nice. Thank you!!!!

I swear by Wayne Ingram on 38th near Lamar as an OB/GYN. He's an infertility specialist, and I'm way past needing that (he did my hysterectomy and I'm pushing 60, anyway), but I'll still drive from about 50 miles north of Austin to see him.

We used to live right near where you are now. We investigated and discovered the Austin Diagnostic Clinic. It is very near the South Austin Hospital off of Ben White. Several specialists are at the same location and electronic medical records are centralized for the use of all doctors at the practice.

I just discovered Balcones Family Dental, near Anderson Mill. They are extremely friendly & very thorough. I still haven't found any MD's I'm overly impressed with yet. ARC's are easy to get into, but you seem to be shuffled around to different docs. (at least w/peds).

A second vote for Balcones Family Dental, Dr. Lounsberry is great! Out of network for us so a little pricey, but worth it! Also, nice office and great staff!

Thanks everyone we don't have the internet at our place yet so its a struggle to check these kinds of things out. Are there any hospitals that are pretty reputable... as far as like... most of the docs there are good? And thanks for the link sanmiguel, I'll check that out when I have more time. And i'll definitely be checking out Balcones family dental. Thanks!

I swear by Scott & White... that's "by," not "at."

Check 'em out at: Patients & Visitors - Scott & White - Central Texas

I like that they're allllllllllllllll over, most clinics have acute care hours, all have a nurse on-call 24/7 and they're very web-savvy (make an appointment, refill your prescription, etc) and their clinics are very all-inclusive... you don't have to run around to two or three labs, hospitals, specialists as they have the labs, equipment & personnel to keep you in a single health center for all but the most exotic stuff, they take scads of insurance plans.

Plus I like having a single source for my primary care physician and my son's pediatrician.

Oh, and they also offer their own medical insurance plan for when you might, you know, sorta like be "between coverages," shall we say?

They have primary care clinics in:
Belton
Cedar Park
Cedar Park West
College Station
Gatesville
Georgetown Central
Georgetown
Hewitt
Hutto
Killeen
Killeen West
Kingsland
Lake Area [Horseshoe Bay]
Llano
Marble Falls
Mason Rural Health
Moody
Northside , Temple
Pflugerville
Salado - opens early 2009
San Saba
Santa Fe Family Medicine, Temple
Taylor
Temple Main
University Medical Campus, Round Rock
Waco
Wells Branch

Third vote for Dr. Lounsberry. I wish he was in the Delta Dental network though. Quite pricey for us

Dr. Robert Cowan he is with Austin area ob gyn's and they are the leading fertility specalists in the area. They are on 38th next door to Seton. He was my Dr. with both of my children and I am a high risk preg. and I love him. He is by far the best Dr. I have ever had, and I have been seeing an ob/gyn for the past 20 yrs in several states and three countries. He has a great bedside manner and his staff always makes you feel like you are their only concern. Dr. Seeker is the only other Dr. in the practice that I have seen and he as well was great and really funny. Good luck to you.
