1st off, spouse will be attending UT for her remaining two years of Law School. We found what we consider to be a pretty good deal for a rental (after seeing quite a few places in Hyde Park that while trendy, leave something to be desired in terms of upkeep) all things considered. The place we will probably move this month is near 52nd and 35; just East of 35 (2 1/2 miles from school and directly on the UT shuttle); adjacent to the UT Med center that's being developed and a Target. What do you folks think about this area?

2nd, I'm exploring health insurance options for my significant other cognizant of her pre-existing conditions and my rather limited self employment. I just became aware of a sliding scale network in San Antonio that from what I here is pretty good, and would fit our short term needs perfectly. It's CareLink/University Health. Unfortunately, I know of nothing comparable in Austin. Does anybody have any suggestions of any networks/plans similar to this one? She could obviously work something through UT but would like something more affordable, but something that is also comprehensive w/o putting me in the poor house is something tragic were to happen.

Any advice or referrals would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

I found out about CHC in another thread and I think that's it (unless someone knows of another sliding scale program). Would still be very interested in what people think of the aforementioned neighborhood though.

Thanks!
