I currently live in Houston and I am moving to Austin (downtown area) because of my job. I want to pick an electric company which offers cheap price. Any help would be greatly thanked.

If you will be living downtown, then your electric company will be the City of Austin! In statewide comparisons, their rates are quite competitive. Lot of incentives and rebates for conservation too!

Given the Board of Directors at Perdenales Electric Cooperative and the legal issues they are facing, I would avoid any area with PEC service.

The Statesman has done a series of articles on the PEC and the pay and benefits offered to its Directors:
