Hi everybody! My fiancee and I are considering relocating from Singapore (in South East Asia) to Austin. I have been lurking in the forum trying to get a feel for the place, but now I could really use some help from the knowledgeable people in here He will be visiting the area next week and having a look at possible areas in which to rent. We are in our early 30s, no kids, and we are keen on walking to places and a more "urban" environment. He would be working somewhere between Austin and Round Rock, so that is also a factor. Also, are there any neighborhoods that are have a strong Asian influence or are particularly diverse? We are originally from Spain, but having lived in Singapore for a few years, it would be fun to remain in contact with Asian culture and food.

What neighborhoods should we have a look at? Any particular recommendations?

the key is your price range! Tell us that, and then people can give you better recommendations.

Ah, price range! We would be initially renting until we get a better idea about the neighborhoods, etc. I guess we would be looking at aroundish 1500/month ... is this realistic? It would be great to hear personal opinions on walkable neighborhoods that have a mix of people with different backgrounds. As mentioned we are in our early 30s with no kids, so things like the quality of the school district, or family friendliness of the area are not our priority (and I gather those are important on influencing prices).
Any recommendations would be much appreciated ... it is tough to judge such things from a different country thousands of miles away
