My husband and I will be visiting San Antonio and Austin soon. We are looking for suggestions on places to run. Parks, greenways, trails, etc....

SW Greenbelt. Head S on Mopac from downtown, exit BEFORE you get to SW Parkway. Park on the side of the road (sometimes they ticket) and look for the trails - they're not hard to find!

Also - Town Lake Trails.

Town Run is the classic. Loops of ~ 3, 4, 5, 7 and 10 miles (depending on which bridge you use).

The Barton Creek Greenbelt offers rugged trail-running. Start and finish at Barton Springs Pool.

Shoal Creek is another classic. Start at Pease Park for parking and restrooms.

Bull Creek is less linear, but if you don't mind "exploring" a bit can be a fun trail run (rugged limestone).

Stop bu Run Tex (awww come-on ya know you want to anyway...) and the good folks there may have some more ideas (plus may offer some group-runs).

Have fun!

I am a runner too and am looking for a "suburban" neighborhood with the best trails and greenbelts for morning runs with the dog. We are considering the Circle C area in SW or more NW in Round Rock b/c we have young kids---or you can bet we'd be in downtown/central Austin. Any suggestions?

(right now we live in a suburb in WI that is just house after house and not much local nature available)

Thanks!
