I've been to Austin 10-11 times and love it, but I did have my worst restaurant experience ever at Katz's Diner on 8th street. It so so unbelievably awful I was angry. I'm normally not the type to complain, but I told them I wouldn't eat it or pay for it because it was just so low quality and terrible. My family said their meals were okay at best. Terrible, terrible joint.

Is Katz's Diner a "New York" style place? I might be confusing it with somewhere else.

Katz's is on Sixth Street, not Eighth. It's definitely not know for its food. It's known for being a place to go after partying all night cause it's open 24 hours a day.

This is a good site to use for reading about restaurants before you go:

Check this one out, as well. Kind of a "food blog."
