Well Louisiana Longhorn is out. I sent them an email. Below is my e-mail and their reply.

Hi,
I am planning a get together of about 10-15 people. We have plans of listening to a band on Sunday afternoon from 4p-8p. I see that your restaurant closes at 8:30. Would you turn us away if we arrive between 8p-8:15 pm? If so, what is the latest time we could arrive to your restaurant on that day to have a group of 10-15 people served?
Shelly

Hi Shelly,
Thank you for considering our restaurant for your get together. Unfortunately, we close at 8:00 pm on Sunday night. Downtown RR traffic really ends around 7-7:30 so due to labor and utility costs, we decided several weeks ago to start closing early on Sunday nights. We hope that you will visit us at another time.
Have a great week.

Melinda and Ray Overstreet

To get to Louisiana Longhorn you take the 620 exit and head east, to the restored area of downtown. It's right in there.
Ah man that would have rocked!

Speaking of Round Rock, has anyone tried the new Salt Lick in RR?

I don' t know what your schedule is like for Thursday during the day, but I'm free--just planning on Fredericksburg for a few hours.

Fredericksburg sounds good. I haven't been there in 35 years! Have you considered Gruene? I'm in Canyon Lake and have fallen in love with the place.

I've been to Gruene many times...I love it there. Never been to Fredericksburg, which is why I'm considering spending a few hrs there. Where is Canyon Lake at?

You should probably look into just restaurants that stay open late... even if they were open til 9pm, you wouldn't want to feel rushed. Can't stand going into a restaurant and being the last party there before they closed... you feel like you're putting them out or something.

These might be your last and only hope for late night BBQ (both on the "restaurant row" at Barton Springs Rd):

*Uncle Billy's (http://www.unclebillysaustin.com/location.php - broken link) It's new, it's local (run by the same guys as Austin Java), and the Q is pretty decent. Says it's open til 2am.

*Green Mesquite Green Mesquite BBQ and more Says it's open til 10pm. Again, not bad Q, lots of different things on the menu.

Call or email first on either of these, in case they've changed their hours like Lousiana Longhorn.

I'd also suggest Z-Tejas at the Arboretum or on 6th Z'Tejas (http://www.ztejas.com/z-tejas-arboretum.html - broken link) (kitchen open til 10 on Sunday) or Opal Devine's on 6th Opal Divines Austin Restaurants Bar and Pubs, American Food Menu (kitchen open til 11pm on Sunday).

Other options are Magnolia Cafe Magnolia Cafes, Austin, TX, and Kerby Lane of course...

Anyway, have fun and let us know about the chicken **** bingo -- I've never been.

Canyon Lake is between Austin and San Antonio down the same exit off I-35 as Gruene. When we were looking for a house, we couldn't decide between Austin and San Antonio so we picked one between the two places.

I will have to locate Fredericksburg on a map. Would love to meet you there if not Gruene.
