Hello everybody,
My husband and I are moving to Austin in 3-4 weeks. We are planning to rent a separate house for the first 6-12 months, probably looking at spending $800-1300 a month. He is working from home and I will look for a job once we get there. I am a vet, so would be nice if there was a big (may be even 24/7) vet hospital in the area. Anybody can recommend one perhaps? We are looking for a quiet green pet-friendly suburb (I would like a park or forest not too far) where it feels more like country and not a city. But a shopping center not too far is nice. If anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

By green, do you mean plants, or do you mean environmentally friendly ("green-built" homes)?

Okay, then. There is (or used to be) a 24-hour vet clinic on South Lamar, walking distance to some older neighborhoods with lots of trees (Barton Hills/Zilker area).

There's a 24-hour vet clinic in Round Rock - there are some nicely-treed neighborhoods in Round Rock if you know where to look.

There's an emergency vet clinic (don't know if it's 24-hour, used to be just nightime/weekends) on 183 North, but I'm having the darnedest time remembering the street it's on (went there in the middle of the night years ago when our heeler got bit by a rattlesnake in the middle of the night). But there are lots of neighborhoods with trees out that way, as well.

You could come work in Georgetown at one of the several vet clinics here. We've got lots of trees!

Thank you for the advice! I am willing to drive to work, just don't want to go across the city and don't want to get anywhere near downtown So as long is there is some big vet clinic within 10-20 minutes drive, that's perfectly fine. I should probably also mention that I am a small animal only vet.

My first recommendation would be to look off of 1826 - larger lots, still fairly close in. there is lots of green in the city limits, but still fairly close housing, even in the older areas.

That's true. Lots of trees, lots of hills, and 4 or 5 vet clinics on the 290 between the Y and Dripping Springs.
