OH MY GOD! I can 100% relate to you! I am AFrican-american as well and just moved here about 3 weeks ago. I'm 25 and already graduated from college and own my own writing firm (i work from home). I also see the potential for dating black women here is slim to none. SInce i just moved here, I HAVE NO FRIENDS and it is bothering me, let alone any date offers. My mother did warn me that most young african american women in austin are single. From what I see, all the black men are paired up with white women, and the hispanics kind of stay within their own race or little circle. I'm open for dating outside my race...are you? If you are not, maybe that is something you should look into. As for moving to DC, I have been there a couple of times and yes, they are expensive, but not as expensive as NY or any other busy city. Hell, I'm originall from Michigan and they were trying to get expensive (I don't know what for when over half of the population is out of work!)But the chances for meeting a successful black men in DC is a little higher than if you were to stay in Austin. But remember this, black women don't have a BIG selection of black men anywhere in the country and we are the ones that get "married" the less out of any other ethnic group. I don't know what your standards are, but if you are beautiful inside and out, successful and independent (which i believe you are), you are going to have a hard time finding other black men like that. I hate to say it but it is the truth. I don't blame you for getting antsy, I only been in Austin three weeks and I'm already antsy! LOLI say take a trip with one of your friends to visit DC for about a week or two and see how you like it. Scope out the men, the neighborhoods, etc.

As far as Texas, I'd say Houston and then Dallas have a higher percentage of successful black men than Austin does.
