Hi everyone,

My family are currently traveling the country in our RV for about a year, good times. We've been staying in Austin for the past few days and are probably going to stay here for at least a month. In fact, in just the few days we've been here, all three of us are kind of thinking we might make it our permanent home after the RV thing is done...

So anyway, we've been staying just across the river from downtown, on Bartlett Road. It's a really great place, close to Whole Foods, downtown, bike shops, the riverfront trails, etc. Those are all things that have us falling in love with Austin.

So my question is, can anyone recommend any other neighborhoods we might want to explore, based on some of the stuff above?

We're "liberal types" but I really don't care about that much, I dislike Democrats, Republicans and Communist Ninja Clown Pirates all equally.

I'm looking more for places that have lots of green space, mixed neighborhoods are cool, easy access to bike routes, a grocery store with healthy, local and organic options, and is "walkable" so that we don't need to drive everywhere we want to go.

Any ideas?

Check out Rosedale - its a central Austin neighborhood north of downtown, one of the best city parks in town (Ramsey Park), a greenbelt for running and biking (Shoal Creek Greenbelt), great trees (the neighborhood used to be 4 nurseries), and is one of the most walkable neighborhoods in Austin. You can walk to Central Market (GREAT grocery store), Upper Crust Bakery, Draught House Pub, tons of restaurants, doctors offices, boutiques, etc...

Rosedale is between 35th and Hancock, west of Lamar and east of Shoal Creek.
