Can someone recommend an interior designer? I'm looking to redo my family room. Looking for someone who has a somewhat mild modern style. Not a fan of the froo froo decor. Not too modern though.

Hi, I don't have their card on me, but there is a group that does home staging as well as interior design. They have a 4 hands / z-gallerie style. If your interested in that style let me know and I'll get you their info (send me a private msg so I get an alert to update the #..). I think they charge either by the project or per hour ($100/hr).

I know there is a really good interior designer named Heather. She owns the shop in the arboretum named HeatherScott Interiors. I'm not sure on her pricing though.

I did use them and I was not happy. I wanted help maximizing my open floorplan, specific things I asked for (cushions for a bench etc) were not done, the carpeting selected for the dining room did not prove to be an appropriate choice for the setting (FLOR tiles do not work well with chairs constantly going across them), I was charged by the hour for internet research picking items that did not match my initial specifications and then I was charged again for time spent finding what I had asked for. I ended up with only a diagram for how the furniture could be moved, where new pieces "could" go (I still had to buy them and no discount) and a big bill! I paid for paint selection but the color chip and paint info was never provided.

A few months later, I used a professional stager prior to putting the house on the market, in two hours she transformed the very space I had already spent big bucks for a piece of paper from Room Fu! Furniture was moved, paintings hung, rugs switched, new pieces brought in, it was amazing! And the price was a small fraction of what I spent at Room Fu.

We will use the stager again to place furniture and recommend pieces at our new home (whenever that happens).

I HIGHLY recommend Janine Charland of Metamorphosis for Homes. www.RoomsULove.com She doesn't try to push you into the style that SHE likes. Also, her prices are reasonable.

good luck!

Don't use Louis Nichols. He is very fru fru and manipulative. My Mother's home was destroyed by him. She was featured in various magazines and newspapers nationwide for her collection of folk art and he completely ruined it. Unless you want your living room to have a mirrored wall black lacquer on the other side and on the last side terrible hot pink and grey he is disgusting. He has horrible taste, and he manipulated a senile woman into, I don't want to talk about it.

On the other hand, I know someone who used to do interiors named Virginia Fleming but I don't think she does it anymore and I don't know how to contact her. She is more a french style but it is very simple. You may want to look her up, she is great!
