Are there any horse stables near cedar park that a thirteen year old could volunteer at? Any information would be great.:d

Look at R.O.C.K. (a therapeutic riding program in Georgetown). They're always looking for volunteers to do everything from work with the riders to take care of the horses.

I don't know any specifics for around here, but my niece (near San Antonio) always helped out at the stables in exchange for some riding time. It wasn't necessarily all taking care of horse - it involved a significant amount of mucking stables and treating leather - but it did also have some direct horse contact. And, on the flip side (and as her parents probably intended) it made her realize the amount of effort that would be required if she actually owned her own horse .

Having come from DC the summer in Austin compares to the hottest week or two in DC - it just lasts for months.

You just stay inside is all. If you want to walk the dog or whatever - you do it at 7am.

I mean seriously - does it matter it it's 95 or 105 out, you really don't want to be doing much.

It's just kind of relentless.

If you're a cool weather person it'll take some getting used to.
