We are moving down to the Southwest area of Austin in a couple of weeks. I am looking for a family practitioner or internal medicine doc for a primary care provider. Does anyone have any recommendations? I am fine with either male or female. Just looking for someone that is smart and friendly (good bedside manner), and that takes our insurance. If you feel it would be more appropriate, you can pm me with names. Thanks!

I would recommend checking out www.AustinDoctors.com:

AustinDoctors.com : Family Physician, the Austin and Central Texas area (http://www.austindoctors.com/DoctorSearch.aspx?s=1&scid=4&specialty=Family+Phys ician - broken link)

AustinDoctors.com : Internist, the Austin and Central Texas area (http://www.austindoctors.com/DoctorSearch.aspx?s=1&scid=6&specialty=Internist - broken link)

Once you are on the search page, enter your zip code to find the doctors that are closest to you.

Hope this helps!

We just saw yesterday, there's the Austin Magazine out with the top 100 doctors in the Austin area! Go to your local bookstore and look for that.

Doctor DeBehnke has excellent listening and communicating skills if that is one of your highest priorities in selecting a general internist.

Richard DeBehnke, MD, ADC Internal Medicine
