We're going to visit the Hill Country in April/May. We're on a pre-retirement location scouting trip. We're interested in Kerrville, but will be looking at many small towns in the Hill Country. Can anyone fill me in on the liquor laws in Kerrville. I remember once near Lake Texoma I had to have a special card to order a beer at a mexican restaurant. Also, I'm always on the hunt for a good, authentic, hole in the wall Mexican food restaurant. Are there any in Kerrville? Thanks!

My inlaws were retired in Kerrville for many years. They bought a 5 ac site off the beaten path on 4 Bears Trail. Was a nice community, out of town, yet not to far out. Don't know about Mexican places but the best Brisket can be had at Big Earl's. We sometimes drive from Austin to Kerrville for our "Big Earl's fix"

Mexican is good at Mamacitias not a hole in wall. Counties down here are not dry like they are in North and East Texas hence you buying a membership to a "club" to get drinks. I have o ask my dad what the name of the breakfast taco place is cause that is a hole in the wall but very good. He lives over in Kerrville and teaches at the college there. Good luck its a pretty place. Since you are going to be in the hill country, Popo's in Welfare has good fresg food and its known for the fried chicken. Hilltop outside of Fredericksburg by about 10 mile on 87 going north is great greek/cajun/hill county food. Odd combo but great food.Hilltop has wine and beer only though but Popos has a full bar its been around since the 30s

Thank you... I'll be sure to check those places out. I just like to have a beer when I want a beer, ya know? Can't wait for the road trip. It's exciting to think about getting out of California for the golden years. I've never lived in another state.
