I am moving to Austin in the beginning of August. I have a nine year old daughter. She is starting 4th grade. I found a web site that said the school year for elementary school starts on the 25th of August. Is this correct? Can some one give me the correct information if this is wrong? Thanks!

Which school district? I think the school year is posted on the district web sites. The 25th sounds right though.

I am staying with family friends while I look for work. They have a room and can help me with the city as they have lived here for a very long time. My daughter is staying with my parents in California while this occurs.

As you know, you'll need to register your child in the district you'll be living in. There are numerous districts that cover Austin. If you are in the North/Northwest, in addition to AISD, Leander, Round Rock, and Pflugerville may cover your area.
AISD- New student registration begins August 10-14 8:30-3:30, except that Wednesday 8-6
