We drove from Austin to Rockport this week, hoping to see some wildflowers along the way. We make this trip almost every April, sadly there were hardly any wildflowers to be seen. Normally we see lots of bluebonnets on FM 2001 between Neiderwald and Lockhart. This year we did not see a one.

The drought has been so bad there was relatively little green grass much less wildflowers until we got clear down near Victoria. And summer has not yet begun. Pray for rain!

Where have all the flowers gone?

Very poor showing this year. We didn't have the fall rains in 2008 needed for a 2009 showing.

What little I have that bloomed on my property don't look so robust.

Ah well, there's always next year.

I've got some friends who went out towards Brenham who got some really nice pictures of Bluebonnets. This was a few weeks ago.

The Bluebonnets are amazing around Brenham...we drove to/from Houston last weekend and saw several fields that were solid blue as far as you could see!

Thanks cptnRn I did some reading on Pete Seeger because of that song. "Wasn't that a Time" might be good for the tea party thread eh?
