Moving to the Austin area from Woodstock, IL any suggestions? (Round Rock: good schools, to live in)

My Husband and I are planning to move to the Austin area late this year or early next year. We are moving from Northern Illinois, Woodstock (Groundhog Day) to be exact. We are wondering where the good communities are, good schools, and etc. We don't mind driving up to 20mi to jobs so any surrounding ares and towns are good to. We are trying to put down roots in a nice community where we can do the things we love such as skeet shooting, horseback riding, mountain biking, four wheeling and other outdoor activities. Can you name some good communities to live in and maybe jobs?? We are planning a trip to Texas in June to visit the towns. Thank you for all of your help.

There really are almost no "bad" parts of town around here. Only a few pockets here and there. 20 miles outside of downtown won't get you too far past maybe Pflugerville or some parts of Round Rock to the North, and MAYBE Kyle to the South. West, someone else will have to fill in. I live East of Austin. Most of the schools are good too. As for the sports, many areas all around Austin can accommodate those. June is a good time to visit, but it gets hot here and June won't be a true representation of that. Job and commute will play a bigger part in whether you live North, South, East or West of Austin. Or IN town. You can also narrow it down on your visit.
