No wonder you don't feel like Austin is liberal... you live near the conservative suburban areas (which are the same for any city).

The OP's "brother" is wrong on just about everything as far as Austin is concerned. Yes, the state government is here, but the state government and Austin have NEVER gotten along. In fact, the state government HATES Austin!

I am a black female that is considering relocating from Denver to Austin. It is not very diverse here in Denver and a black female does not have a easy time dating here. Don't want to move to an area that is similar. What have you learned?
