Hi there, I'm looking for suggestions for a great preschool in the Great Oaks/Brushy Creek area. We're moving to the area this summer. I've seen the Primrose and Stepping Stone schools are nearby, but haven't found any others in the immediate area. Is there a Montessori close by? I visted the Austin's Children Academy near Lakeline, but that's a little too far.

Any comments about either of those two schools, or any suggestions for nearby schools are welcome. We have a great school now in Central Austin but with the move, the commute to their school will be a little too long, so we're looking for something closer to the new home. We found our current school through word of mouth and I don't want to miss out on a great school because I'm not familiar with the area.

Thanks!

Hi - my son and daughter both attended Stepping Stone on O'Connor Drive for preschool, and Miss Colleen is amazing there (I think there are 2 other pre-kindergarten teachers there, but they both had Miss Colleen). My daughter just finished up with her last week, and my son attended last year (and did kindergarten this year at Greak Oaks). She has been teaching preschool for almost 30 years, and is the pre-k curriculum lead teacher for the entire Stepping Stone chain of schools.

I recommend the school - we had a very positive experience the past 2 years.

Thanks Tracey. I visited Primrose, but haven't been by Stepping Stone yet. Thanks for the tip on Miss Colleen too -- I'll try to seek her out. Experience is really important to us too. Our current school has teachers who all have 20-plus years experience caring for children and I would love to find a place with experienced teachers and low turnover.
