Dang, its too late to delete my post!

It is true that most of them are dry as a bone right now and pollution is often a problem.

Yeah, last time I went swimming at Twin Falls I found a rather LARGE Leech on my hand.

I took my boy to Barton Springs last year and the algae/fungus was terrible. People aren't washing their feet before they get in the water.

So, word to the wise. If the water's not flowin' don't be a goin' to those swimmin' holes.

This is why it always mystifies me that, even with the inherent difficulties in putting in a pool, that there are not more of them in Austin and area.

When I was doing a lot of travel between Austin and Toronto, the pools always stood out from the air. In the Toronto area it was almost a one in five ratio. In Austin it was more like 1 in 20 or 30.

I fully understand about the ground and other restrictions, but I would figure the heat and length of pool season would compensate for the extra cost. I am glad I was able to get one of the few houses with a pool.

I'm not trying to turn this thread into another pro/anti pool thread.

Sitting in my backyard and jumping in the pool as needed will be my way of coping with the heat. When I am not in the water I will be experimenting with the perfect margarita!

Most of them are Google Images.

This one is mine

http://www.pbase.com/cptinrn/image/86221524/large.jpg

More here: cptinrn's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

Most of my photos are taken with a Olympus C-2100UZ (UZI) but the Hamilton's Pool photos were taken with a small compact Nikon Coolpix L4, I use it when I don't want to carry the bulky UZI around.

I always check out the cameras here http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html before buying one. They have detailed reviews and post numerous example photos on the web for each camera so you can see how good the image is before buying one.

Umm, are you certain the Google Images ones that you didn't take are in the public domain? (Most photos found using Google Images are copyrighted and NOT in the public domain.)

Nice photos on your pBase gallery! Where's the flag-painted horse?

How to survive and enjoy the summer heat in Austin TX or anywhere else in Texas:

Margarita's
Good Friends
Lots of cookouts w/ good friends
Bike Rides in the evening
Walks around the neighborhood in the evenings to see neighbors and friends
A vacation somewhere fun near the end of July
A trip to the Frio River (they are serious about the name of this river)
Swimming
Laying in the pool
Margarita's
Margarita's with good friends
Margarita's in the pool or lounging by the pool
Lots of trips to lakes in the aera or across the state

Find plenty of fun activities and fun people to be with and it makes the summer heat all melt away

Another Uzi shooter. Great!

I still love my Uzi. It is the only camera I kept when I went the upgrade route. I now term it the "small" camera compared to my Canon 20D with a 70-200mm 2.8 lens.

Steve's and DPReview were the source of all my information when I went camera hunting.

Yes, Margaritas or sweet tea, depending on the situation.
