I have read several posts regarding Steiner and know their are huge fans out there! I have lived in Austin now for 6 years and we are looking to move into a new house in the fall. Does anyone know anything about the new developments south of Circle C? We have narrowed our search to those two areas (we think ).

We have a baby and a toddler and are considering schools and location into Austin. We LOVE everything about Austin and don't want to be too far away. My husband works from home so commute time is not a factor. Our price range is from the $400's to $500's. Does anyone have any advice??? Should we be considering other areas??? Please help!

When you say you're looking to move into a new house in the fall...do you mean new construction? if not just new construction, there are other areas to consider, IMO!

Right now we're leaning towards new construction but we would love any suggestions!

Check out Meridian (off 45) and the new sections of Circle C. There is also still new construction in Heights at Loma Vista between 1826 and Western Oaks (NE of Slaughter/1826). Covered Bridge is tsill building (west the 'Y' in Oak Hill off Hwy 71). I think Travis Country West (off Southview Prky) is completely built out but there may be a few homes being started in there.

If your range is $600+, there is a little known sleeper subdivision of about 70 new customer homes in the back of Granada Hills at Granada Oaks all on 1+ acre lots.

If you don't mind adding 15 minutes to your commute into Austin, you might drive out 290 West and check out Belterra and Highpoint.

Thanks! We actually checked out Meridian this morning since we'd never searched out that way. We had pretty much made up our mind about moving towards Steiner until we found that subdivision. Just not sure what is around there.

There is really nothing "South of Circle C" except Meridian. Further south would be out 1826 toward the Salt Lick, and you get into Hays County and older subdivisions (with big lots) or newer ones like Rim Rock, but those are getting out there so you'd have a longer commute.

I have many friends in Circle C and they all love it. It's a fantastic place to live.

Default Lived in Circle C, moving to Meridian

Hello,

I lived in Circle C for 3 years and I really like the area, and it is fairly convenient to downtown. We looked in the Steiner Ranch area for a "move-up" home, and decided that we preferred SW Austin.

We are actually buidling a home in Meridian with David Weekley, which is in your price range. There is other new construction in Merdian and in Circle C, but most important to me was a good builder that offered a lot of flexibility in terms of custom design options. My parents just completed building a new home in Circle C with a different builder, and found that they didn't have much flexibility with design, even when offering to pay more for it. However, now that they have moved in, they really like the area and think it is a very convenient location with much better traffic flow than coming from the Steiner Ranch area.

Feel free to PM me if you want specific info.

When we were looking for a home, Heights at Loma Vista (adjacent to Circle C) was our first choice, but was a bit out of our price range. Circle C was our second choice, we just could not find a floor plan we liked. Circle C has an excellent location to downtown as well as a great new hybrid Heb/Central Market grocery store.

The thing was the Austin area is; there are so many nice areas to choose from it kind of gets confusing at times.

A little off-topic, but I got a touch creeped out by Heights of Loma Vista when I saw that they named a road "Mala Suerte." Doesn't that mean "Bad Luck?" I also didn't like the topography of the area.
