I'm looking for a house to rent... I'll be working near the Capitol and want to keep my commute times down of course!

Can anyome tell me the approximate rush hour commute times from:

(1) Wm Cannon/Congress area to the Capitol?
(2) Wm Cannon/Manchaca(or Brodie) area to the Capitol?
(3) Oak Hill (north of Wm Cannon, south of 290, east of Mopac) to the Capitol?

I greatly appreciate any assistance!

Most of that is probably covered in this recent thread.

Yes I saw that thread, but it doesn't cover these areas. Thanks anyway!

I live in Oak Hill. I take 71 to S. 1st Street and can get to work near the Capital in 20 min or so most mornings. Getting home can take a little longer. I don't recommend taking MoPac from the SW unless you leave early in the am.

Can anyone comment on what the reverse commute looks like on MOPAC?

That would be from downtown Austin up to Wells Branch.

Any comments?

Sounds about right during rush hour. For non-rush hour each of these will be 5-10 minutes shorter.

Also don't forget that there are plenty of bus routes up both Congress and S. 1st including an express bus on the latter and a planned rapid bus on the former (very fast, has signal prioritization).
