Do you have a rental car? Are you up for a drive? I highly recommend the Salt Lick in Driftwood for the food and the experience. The drive out there down 1826 is beautiful. FYI, the Salt Lick is in a dry precinct so you need to BYOB and it only takes cash as payment.

For BBQ make sure you go to Ruby's on Guadalupe downtown or Rudy's in various locations. For good Japanese try Mikado, or for a steak go to Austin's Land and Cattle on Lamar. For a great Mexican breakfast Mi Madras. They have the best breakfast tacos.
We don't live in Austin yet, trying to sell our house before we can relocate there. However we have been to Austin too many times to count, and our friends there are always taking us so some great places to eat, and Austin is not short on great restaurants. Have fun, you will love Austin.
