Hello, I am getting ready to put in a offer on a house in Leander and I would really, really appreciate some insider information about Leander, and Block House Creek subdivision in particular. I just spent two days of non-stop house hunting in Round Rock, Leander and Georgetown. My head is spinning. I did find a lovely house in Block House Creek that I think would be perfect for my family and I really like the neighboorhood amenities and the local YMCA. I am looking for a very family-friendly neighborhood and a town that has lots of activities for kids (pools, sports, movies in the parks, bike trails...). Would I find that in Leander? It was hard to get a real feel for the place in just two days. Would appreciate any info. Thanks.

My MIL lives in Blockhouse. I will say the amenities seem to be pretty good for kids. The main pool is great with huge tube water slides and a zero depth end section for toddlers. There's a BMX course, 2 playscapes that I know of, a 2nd junior olympic pool, trails, park space, etc.

How much do homes generally run in that subdivision?

I looked the homes up and saw what they're going for. Very nice homes and area. The rail is near as well. (I'd delete my last post but I cannot)

My father and his wife have lived in Block House for several years. They have enjoyed living there. Lots of parks/greenbelts/pools. They go to a free water aerobics class in a heated pool several evenings a week. There are schools within walking distance right in the neighborhood.
I also know a young family that works with my husband that has enjoyed that neighborhood so much they have lived in 3 houses there! They just kept buying larger homes as their family grew.
Now with the expansion of 183A connecting to New Hope road (that connects to Block House) commuting to Austin is a breeze compared to the old 183!
Out of Round Rock, Georgetown and Leander, I'm at a loss to think of another neighborhood in that price point that offers so much and is as safe/clean as Block House.

I just moved to Leader from Kansas. I wanted in a quite place in the burbs. I really like it so far. Cruise over to Round Rock when I want a little action. Very much a family place.
