I want to find a source for learning to make a web page -- that is, for using the tools that most hosting services provide.

I know the basics of HTML, so that's not what I'm looking for. I want instruction in/ a walk through registering a URL, setting up mailboxes, using Control Panel (which most hosts seem to use), using a Content Management System, using Fantastico scripts....

I don't want to sign up for a semester long course somewhere. Does anyone know of shorter classes, or "web tutors?"

thanks.

Maybe there is a local hosting company that offers that kind of "get you up and running" teaching?

Thanks for the list of links. They're more sophisticated than I need right now, but I will bookmark them for the future.

SASgeeek, you'd think that someone would offer a quick "get up and running" class in websites, or a tutoring service for that... but how do I find them?

ARRRRRGH!

There is some very, very basic software (can't think of the name...coffeecup or something?) that lets you use front-end for making websites....it might suffice as a stepping stone to the more sophisticated web stuff.

You can take an informal class at UT for it:

I'd imagine ACC also offers something.
